POKOTABI / BALLARIN
BALLARIN
Located in Shiba 1-chome, BALLARIN serves golden-baked lasagna, handmade pasta, lunch salads paired with 2 house dressings, and curated wines alongside seasonal blackboard specials.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
From the aromatic crust on a freshly baked lasagna to unpretentious appetizers that highlight the best of the season, BALLARIN brings thoughtful Italian dining to a quiet street in Minato Ward's Shiba district.
Midday menus showcase careful prep work. Pasta sets open with a farm salad served alongside 2 contrasting dressings, underscoring the crispness of fresh greens. Mains rotate daily, featuring hearty lasagna built with layers of distinct short pasta shapes, or pasta tossed with San Marzano tomatoes and tender eggplant. Accompanied by focaccia to mop up the sauce, and rounded off with coffee or tea, the lunch sets offer a satisfying pause.
Come evening, the blackboard fills with seasonal plates such as marinated octopus with water eggplant, red sea bream carpaccio, and charcoal-roasted venison. Rather than keeping a fixed wine list, staff suggest 3 to 4 bottles across white, orange, natural, and classic styles once you share your preferred profile and budget. Multiple reds and whites are poured by the glass, flanked by craft brews such as TOKYO BLUES and house-made ginger ale.
Counter seats provide a close view of the open kitchen, ideal for solo diners or pairs sharing a drink. Table and terrace seating are also available, leaving plenty of room to linger over desserts such as a rich chocolate terrine. Evening reservations are recommended, and payments can be made by credit card or PayPay.
